No bids yet for Ibrahimovic

June 30, 2009

Ibrahomovic’s agent Mino Raiola has said even with all the speculation linking his player with a move to Barcelona or Real Madrid there have been no bids for the Inter Milan striker.

“They haven’t contacted me,” said Raiola.

“Should someone reach an agreement with Inter before 30th August, then we will move.

“For the moment there is nothing. Should something happen with Zlatan, it will be decided by Inter.

“If there has been an offer, this hasn’t been done through me. I haven’t heard from president Moratti in the last few days as there is no need.

“Everything is calm. The player is on holiday with his family, and it’s absolutely calm despite what is said.”

June 29, 2009

Eidur Gudjohnsens time at Barcelona looks to be up and the Premiership seems his most likely destination with a whole host of clubs including West Ham, Everton, Aston Villa and Portsmouth all interested in the player.

“Returning to England is probably inevitable. There is a lot of interest from the Premier League,” Gudjohnsen said.

“I had a great time with Chelsea and Gianfranco and I know the game inside out. I know I would adapt easily to the football there.”

Silva supports Melo move

June 29, 2009

Fiorentinas Felipe Melo is being heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer as they still search for a replacement to Patrick Viera in the centre of midfield and former Arsenal captain Gilberto Silva has advised fellow Brazilian Melo to jump at the chance of a move to Arsenal if he is offered it.

“We heard rumours and he asked me. I said it’s a fantastic club and if he’s interested he should go without thinking,” said Gilberto.

“He is exactly what they need - a powerful player with quality.”

“If they got him it would be great because he is a player they need at the moment.”

“I’m sure if they got him it would be a good signing. I have told him Arsenal is a great club and I am sure next season they will improve.”

Klaus Filbry will be a new Werder manager

June 27, 2009

The future shape of the board of directors for Werder Bremen GmbH & Co KG aA has been set. The Green-Whites supervisory board chairman Willi Lemke announced Friday that the 42-year-old Adidas manager Klaus Filbry will replace long-time manager Manfred Müller on 1 January 2010 and take over his duties in marketing, management and finances. The decision means the body will continue to distribute its work among three managers.

The Werder supervisory board chairman Willi Lemke was pleased with the results of the months-long search. “In the end we agreed unanimously on Klaus Filbry. He is someone with international experience, who has already led a unit with 200 employees in the United States. And he has a strong connection to football. With his qualities, he has everything needed for the position after the consolidation of the marketing and finances departments,” said Lemke.

Manfred Müller, 65, will leave his post on 31 December 2009 but will remain with Werder. “The supervisory board also agreed unanimously to continue to rely on the valuable experience of Manfred Müller, especially in stadium construction until the completion of work on Weser-Stadion. Manfred Müller therefore will be given a contract as consultant until March 2011,” added Willi Lemke.

When he takes over his management position, Filbry will continue the proven Werder philosophy. “Over the past few years Werder Bremen has gone an impressive way. And my activities will be based upon the stable foundation. And I hope to strengthen it,” said the father of three Filbry.

Starting on 1 January 2010, the board of directors of Werder Bremen GmbH & Co KG aA (Limited Commercial Partnership) will have the following separation of duties:

Klaus Allofs
Chairman of board of directors
Manager of professional football and public relations

Klaus Filbry
Manager of marketing and management and finances

Klaus-Dieter Fischer
Manager of football performance centre and other sporting branches
