Ronaldinho receives call up blow

February 10, 2010

AC Milan’s Brazilian forward Ronaldinho hasn’t exactly been at his best for the past few seasons, however the player has dramatically improved this season and looks like a player well on his way to regaining his top form.

It could be argued that the incentive of a place in the Brazil squad for the 2010 World Cup finals is the players motivation for his return to form but the players hope to represent Brazil at this summers World Cup got a huge blow when he was left out of the squad for Brazils friendly match against Ireland on the 2nd of March.

This will be the last time that the squad meet up before this summers tournament and it appears that Ronaldinho’s recent return to form has not been enough to convince Dunga that he should recall the AC Milan player. Should the player continue to show his recent form then you wouldn’t bet against him earning a recall especially since Robinho who has hardly featured for Man City and has now moved to Santos on loan has been included in the squad.

As the final preparations are getting made for the 2010 World Cup the favourites for the tournament are starting to emerge. There will be a huge amount of World Cup Betting taking place between now and the end of the tournament especially on Brazil, who are already one of the tournament favourites. However Brazil for some will be much more appealing with Ronaldinho in the squad who despite all his faults and recent loss of form has the ability to completely transform a game and make the difference when it is needed.

The full Brazil squad for the friendly on the 2nd of March is:

Goalkeepers: Julio Cesar (Inter Milan, ITA), Doni (Roma, ITA)

Defenders: Maicon (Inter Milan), Daniel Alves (Barcelona, ESP), Juan (Roma), Lucio (Inter Milan), Luisao (Benfica, POR), Thiago Silva (AC Milan, ITA), Gilberto (Cruzeiro), Michel Bastos (Lyon, FRA)

Midfielders: Gilberto Silva (Panathinaikos, GRE), Josue (Wolfsburg, GER), Felipe Melo (Juventus, ITA), Lucas (Liverpool, ENG), Kaka (Real Madrid, ESP), Ramires (Benfica), Elano (Galatasaray, TUR), Julio Baptista (Roma), Kleberson (Flamengo)

Forwards: Robinho (Santos), Adriano (Flamengo), Nilmar (Villarreal, ESP), Luis Fabiano (Sevilla, ESP)
