Bayern Munich suffered another setback as VFL Bochum staged a stunning late comeback to hold the Bundesliga champions to a 3-3 draw at the Allianz Arena.
It was Bayern’s third league game without a win as the pressure is already starting to mount on new boss Jurgen Klinsmann.
Bayern now sit 11th in the Bundesliga, but had looked in complete control as they led 3-1 win only ten minutes to go, only to be stung by goals from midfielders Christoph Dabrowski and Dennis Grote.
“The result is unsatisfactory from our point of view,” said ex-Germany coach Klinsmann.
“If you lead 3-1, and have the chance to go 4-1 ahead, such a thing should just not happen. We already had the game won, but perhaps the team were too sure of themselves.
“I hope such a thing does not happen again.”
Bayern took an early lead through Belgian defender Daniel van Buyten but were pegged back when Bochum’s Turkish forward Sinan Kalogu equalised midway through the first half. Two goals from Ze Roberto had Bayern cruising before Bochu’s late flurry.
Elsewhere, Hoffenheim climbed to the top of the Bundesliga as two goals from Senegal forward Demba Ba was enough to earn victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.
They are joined at the top by Stuttgart, who stunned Werder Bremen 4-1.
“We played a very good game,” said delighted Stuttgart boss Armin Veh.
“We were disciplined, dynamic and strong in the tackle, that was our best performance of the season.”
Bremen slip to fifth in the table, while Hamburg have a chance to reclaim top spot outright when the face Energie Cottbus on Sunday.
A late winner from Andrei Voronin against his former club Bayer Leverkusen earned Hertha Berlin a 1-0 victory to move them up to 8th in the table.
In Saturday’s other matches, Cologne scored late to seal a 2-1 win at Borussia Moenchengladbach.
On Friday, Karlsruhe picked up three points with a 2-1 win at Arminia Bielefeld.
On Sunday, Schalke 04 have a chance to get amongst the leaders at VfL Wolfsburg while Borussia Dortmund host Hanover 96.
