Kaka Asks Fans To Forgive Players for Champions League Failure

March 11, 2010

Real Madrid’s dream of lifting this season’s Champions League trophy at their Santiago Bernabeu stadium was shattered on Wednesday when Olympique Lyon eliminated them at the last 16 stage.

After the defeat, Kaka asked the fans for forgiveness.

“It is a very hard blow for Real Madrid,” Kaka told Marca.

“The only thing we can do is ask the fans for forgiveness. We all wanted to play the final in the Bernabeu, and we could not achieve it.

“I have overcome many difficult moments in my career. We are going to get past this one together.

“We created a lot of chances to score, but did not take them.

“In the Champions League, this will cost you.”

Kaka then talked about his controversial substitution, continuing, “I did not like the situation of the game.”

“I was not angry about the change, but the scoreline.

“I was replaced by Raul, who has a lot of experience in scoring.”

Rossi to leave Spain in the Summer

March 5, 2010

Giuseppe Rossi was already linked with a move to Juventus in January and now his agent has hinted that the Villareal striker is likely to return to Italy this summer.

“Rossi’s future is in the balance,” agent Federico Pastorello told Radio Goal.

“At this moment Villarreal are in great difficulty and it’s unlikely they will qualify for Europe.

“This means players of a certain level will push to leave and, faced with a club that presents a good offer, Villarreal could sell Rossi.”

The Italian-American forward is well-travelled with spells at Parma, Manchester United and in La Liga.

Rossi, who has scored 28 goals in 77 league matches for Villarreal has drawn the attention of Napoli and Juventus, who had already been linked last summer and in January.

“I don’t know if he’ll return to England or Italy, but I find it fairly obvious that his future will not be in Spain,” continued his agent.

“Napoli are among the best sides in Italy and I’d be happy to have another of my players in the squad.”

Pastorello also represents Andrea Dossena, who joined the San Paolo side from Liverpool in January, and goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis.
