Boca Juniors wasted their chance to move into first place in the Argentinian Primera Division, crashing to a 2-3 defeat by Velez Sarsfield at La Bombonera.
After San Lorenzo’s draw on Saturday, Boca had a perfect opportunity to conquer the top spot. Velez took the lead through Uglessich on 17 minutes though and Cabrera made it 0-2 shortly after the interval.
Forlin got one back just before the hour mark but Cristaldo almost immediately recovered the two-goal gap. Palacio scored for 2-3 with just a few minutes left, not enough for Boca to get another.
As a result San Lorenzo and Tigre continue to share the lead with 30 points each, while Boca follow at one point.
