In one of Brazil’s many derbies (yes there are millions) the one between Porto Alegre’s finest and league leaders Gremio and recent Brazilian galaticos Internacional produced one of the biggest shocks of the season with D’Alessandro and co firing 4 goals passed the leaders to stun them in a fantastic 4-1 victory that gives second place Palmeiras something to more smile about. In fact it was the former Portsmouth forward who single led the onslaught, contributing one goal and two assists on the night. Former Corinthians striker and Carlos Tevez’s partner in crime Nilmar got in on the scoring with a well taken header from a cross by, yup you guessed it, D’Alessandro. This result propels the team known as “Colorado” up to 8th position and more importantly they are now just 4 points from qualifying for the Copa Libertadores, which they won just 2 years ago.
