Bryan Gunn Appointed Norwich City Manager
May 14, 2009
Bryan Gunn has been officially confirmed as the permanent manager of Norwich City. Gunn was in charge for the last 19 games of this season, residing over the cub’s drop down to League One.
Ian Butterworth and Ian Crook will remain as his deputies, Butterworth as assistant manager, and Crook as first team coach. The news finally ended the speculation over who will be in charge next season, and the response is likely to be a mixed one from the fans.
Gunn has no managerial experience but as a Norwich legend, many fans are very fond of the former keeper. The Canaries fans will be hoping that the three former players will be able to replicate what they did on the pitch for Norwich but they will also be nervous about this apointment.
Butterworth has worked in the lower leagues before, and Crook has coached in Australia’s A-League, but for Gunn this will be a real baptism of fire.
Gunn told the Norwich’s website: “I’m absolutely delighted that the Board has chosen myself, Ian Butterworth and Ian Crook to take the club forward. “We are all looking forward to the challenges of League One, and we are all bitterly disappointed with what happened last season.
“Now is the time to look forward and prepare for what is a very important season.”
Will Sargent.
