Struggling Championship Derby County have been handed a boost with the news winger Giles Barnes is expected to return to action next month.
The 20-year-old has been out since suffering knee ligament damage in February, having underwent surgery in the United States.
He is now on course to make a comeback, with Rams boss Paul Jewell saying: “We are probably looking at October. I don’t like to say three or four weeks when it might be five or six, but he is on course,”
Barnes has been training with the first-team squad on match days, something Jewell feels may have helped his progress.
He added: “We felt it would give him a little bit of a boost warming up with the players at Pride Park,
“He warms up with the players in the morning before training and then goes to do his work with the conditioning coach.”
