Lita looks set for City loan
December 31, 2008
Leroy Lita looks set to extend his stay at Norwich City until the end of the season.
The 24-year old hit man returned to Reading on Monday but his future at the Royals has looked bleak since falling down the pecking order, with Stephen and Noel Hunt in fine form, and not forgetting the Championships top scorer Kevin Doyle.
Lita has been in lethal form for Norwich so far this season firing 7 goals.
With Norwich unable to raise enough funds to bring in Lita permanently, the Canaries have made an offer for a half season loan.
City manager Glen Roeder said, “We would very much like to keep him [Lita]. ‘Reading know that and we will be working on that over the next couple of days.’He can stay on a second half of the season loan - we would like to do that and Reading know that. Whether we can achieve that we will have to wait and see, but we will certainly be working hard on trying to make that happen and, having spoken to Leroy a few times in the last week or so, he would very much like to stay”.
However, the Canaries will be hopeful that Premier League clubs West Brom and Stoke do not come in with late offers, both of whom have reportedly shown interest in Lita to bolster their survival hopes in the Premiership.
