Wolverhampton Wanderers make move to plug defensive holes.
Mick McCarthy has signed blues England under-21 defender Michael Mancienne on loan for the rest of 2008. Mancienne could make his Wolves debut against Swansea after the Chelsea defender joined the Championship high-flyers on loan.
“It’s working at the moment in terms of scoring at the other end but we need to keep clean sheets as well.
“It’s all about competition for places as well because Jody (Craddock) isn’t ready yet and won’t be for a few weeks.
“Michael is an England Under-21 international who’s a good defender and is very quick.
“He’s travelling up today so he could be involved in the squad tomorrow but I wouldn’t throw him in without having done some work as a unit beforehand.”
The 20-year-old has not appeared for the Chelsea first team yet, but did spend two-seasons on-loan at fellow West-London club QPR, where he played some part in 58 games, and was runner-up in the ’06-’07 Supporters’ Young Player of the Year.
