Leixoes stay top in Portugal
November 3, 2008
Leixoes remain shock leaders of the Portuguese Super Liga, after defeating Pacos de Ferreira 2-1 on Sunday.
Wesley and Diogo Valente led Leixoes to a comfortable advantage in the first half, and William’s goal for 2-1 in the 81st minute came too late for the visiting side.
Porto’s poor start to the season continued, as they slumped to their second defeat in seven games, losing 1-0 to Naval on Saturday.
Benfica are up to second after goals from Suazo and Sidnei were enough to seal a 2-1 victory at Vitoria Guimares, despite playing the second half with only ten men after Jose Antonio Reyes was red carded.
There was also victory away from home for Sporting Lisbon who move up to fourth after beating Rio Ave 1-0.
