Olympikos beat AEK again
October 7, 2008
This weekend saw the two major title rivals - Olympiakos Piraeus and AEK Athens - square off. Last years title ended in controversy with AEK “winning” the league only for Olympiakos to get points re-instated and pip their bitter rivals to the title.
On Sunday, it was Olympiakos who were victorious again as they took all three points.
After an uneventful opening half our, Darko Kovacevic opened the scoring for the home side.
Carlos Diogo added a second only three minutes later, and AEK never had the strength to fight their way back into the game. In fact, the away side went down to ten thanks to a second booking for Juanfran with twelve minutes left.
Olympiakos now have 13 points from five games, two points more than PAOK Saloniki who forgot to score at Ergotelis Heraklion on Saturday.
