FC Porto moved to the top of the Portuguese Liga Sagres after winning their top of the table clash with title rivals Sporting Lisbon on Sunday.
The two Portuguese giants squared off in Lisbon knowing the winner would take pole position in the race for the title.
Porto were ahead after 18 mins when Lisandro Lopez slotted hope, but Sporting hit back ten minutes later through Joao Moutinho to level the match.
Just three minutes later, Porto were back in the ascendency when Bruno Alves netted what turned out to be a decisive second goal for the defending champions.
Porto have earned eleven points from their first five games, enough to lead ahead of Nacional Funchal and Estrela Amadora. Sporting share the fourth place with Leixoes.
