Ambrosini commits to Milan till 2011

Massimo Ambrosini has signed a new contract at AC Milan which will keep him at the San Siro until 2011.

The Italy international’s future had been a subject of concern at the San Siro for some time, with talks regarding an extension having dragged on.

There had even been reports over the summer that the experienced midfielder could be tempted to end his 14-year association with the Rossoneri.

However, the transfer window has come and gone and the 32-year-old remains in Milan.

He has been awarded the club captaincy by coach Leonardo in the wake of Paolo Maldini’s retirement and has now committed his long-term future to the Serie A giants.

AC Milan can confirm that a contract extension has been agreed with Massimo Ambrosini which binds the player to the club until 30th June 2011,” read a statement on the club’s official website
