Inter Sit Bottom of Champions League Group

Jose Mourinho’s Inter had to come twice from behind to grab a draw against Dynamo Kiev at the San Siro last night, which now leaves them at the bottom of group F.

Following their 0-0 draw in the opening fixture with Barcelona and a disappointing 1-1 draw to Russians Rubin Kazan, this latest setback leaves the Italian champions in a little bit of a pickle in the group.

Dynamo started the game well and put together a few good passes and pressurised Inter early on.

In the 5th Minute Dynamo took the lead through Mikhailik, a free kick was put into the area and found it’s way to Mikhailik, who hit a low drive which deflected of the post and into the net.

Dynamo were making life very difficult for Inter as they looked for a second goal, Shevchenko on his return to the san siro had a free header in the box but just put it over the bar.

Ten minutes before the break In form Stankovic equalised for the nerazurri, Brazilian defender Lucio made one of his trademark runs bursting through the midfield, and sent a through ball to Stankovic, who found himself in a more advanced position. As he ran on goal the Dynamo keeper came running out of his area, Stankovic then cleverly side footed the ball into the empty goal.

After Lucio’s goal assist he became goal scorer 5 minutes before half time, although it was at the wrong end as he headed into his own goal from a dynamo corner.

Just two minutes into the second half, from a Sneijder corner Argentine Walter Samuel looped a header into the top corner to bring the score level.

Once again Dynamo didn’t lie down and instead of felling sorry for themselves they continued to attack. Shevchenko had a clear opportunity to give Dynamo the lead for the third time. He found himself one on one with the keeper after Lucio’s mistake let him clear through, but he wasted the opportunity and hit it over the bar.
Inter had a clear opportunity to win the game five minutes from time, Zanetti crossed the ball into the box which found substitute striker David Suazo, who missed the target from six yards.

With the likes of Diego Milito and Thiago Motta missing the game through injury, Inter were missing to of their most influential players. But with the likes of Sneijder, Eto’o and Stankovic they should have picked up three points.

It was an impressive display by Dynamo and they will be even more difficult to break down in two weeks when the sides meet again in the Ukraine.
