Pirlo still happy wth decision to snub Chelsea

January 5, 2010

AC Milan’s midfield maestro Andrea Pirlo has insisted that he has no regrets about snubbing Chelsea last summer.

The big-spending Blues wanted to secure the Italy international, who has 64 caps for Italy, following the arrival of former Rossoneri boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Although Chelsea’s bid fell short of Milan’s asking price, Pirlo has admitted he was tempted to join the Stamford Bridge outfit.

However, after deciding to stay he has backed his decision and now hopes to see out his career with the Italian giants and hopefully extend his deal.

“Do I regret not following Ancelotti to Chelsea? When you make a decision, it is necessary to see it through,” he told Le Gazzetta dello Sport.

“At first, I wanted to join Ancelotti, it was strange not to see him in the locker room. But then you get used to the situation.

“Leonardo is going well and we are with him. There’s no nostalgia.

“Could I close my career at AC Milan? I hope so. I have a contract until 2011 and I hope to stay beyond this deadline.”
