Tonight (Tuesday) sees Premiership giants Manchester United and Arsenal compete for a place in the next round of the Champions League. Arsenal will face Dynamo Kiev at the Emirates Stadium whilst United face a tough trip to Spain against Villarreal.
Arsenal, knowing that victory will see them through the group, are likely to field Williams Gallas in defence after his absence, during their heavy loss at Manchester City, due to him being stripped of the captaincy by Arsene Wenger. New captain Francesc Fabregas will start whilst Samir Nasri (knee) and Abou Diaby (abdominal strain) miss out in a side that also sees Kolo Tour, Theo Walcott, Emmanuel Eboue, Emmanuel Adebayor and Bacary Sagna unavailable due to injury. Also recovering is Croat striker Eduardo but is unlikely to return until next month.
Manchester United will also be looking for 3 points in their penultimate group game but only need a draw in order to progress, but, Sir Alex Ferguson is still unsure of Cristiano Ronaldo’s condition after picking up a knock at Villa Park on Saturday. Berbatov and Gary Neville will sit out whilst in-form Darren Feltcher is likely to return to the midfield, van der Sar will be rested so Tomasz Kuszczak may start in goal.
Elsewhere, Scottish champions Celtic travel to Denmark to face Aalborg in match that is likely to see the winners gain entrance into the UEFA Cup via third place in the group.
