Cristiano Ronaldo wins FifPro player of the year

Prospective World Footballer of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo has been named as the player of the year in the FifPro votes, he was one of five Premier League players selected in the FifPro Team of the Year.

 The often controversial Portuguese attacker, had an incredible last season, winning the Premier League and Champions League with Manchester United, scoring 42 goals along the way for his club.

FifPro is the world-wide umbrella organisation for the PFAs around the globe and includes more than 40 associations meaning that thousands of players have registered their votes for the awards.
The awards are now in their fourth year and the previous winners are Ronaldinho (twice) and Kaka.
John Terry is the only player who was elected in the World XI in all four editions since FIFPro members started voting in 2005.

Cristiano Ronaldo commented: “To be recognized by my fellow professional players worldwide coming from over 50,000 players is amazing. I would like to thank my teammates and coaches and everyone involved at Man United and the national team, as well as my family and friends for their support. Thank you also to FIFPro for this award and for your work in protecting the interests and welfare of players around the world.“
