Tottenham could be priced out of the race to sign Portsmouth frontman Jermaine Defoe after the two clubs seem unable to come to an agreement.
Defoe left White Hart Lane in 2007, but Spurs boss Harry Redknapp wants to re-sign the England striker whom he worked with during his time at Portsmouth.
Portsmouth are thought to be holding out for around £15 million.
Meanwhile Portsmouth trio Sean Davies, Glen Johnson and Richard Hughes have all been offered new deals at the South Coast club.
