Transfer gossip, with Harry Redknapp

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is the man to talk to about transfers it seems.

Pompey face the Villa at Villa Park this weekend, and in the build up Redknapp has been talking about what we can expect come January sales time.

As regards the warchest on the South coast, or lack of it, he admits ‘won’t spend much’ in January’s transfer window – but he expects his next opponents to splash the cash.

“I can’t see me being able to spend much money in January. I can’t see too many who will – except maybe Villa.

“I hear they have £30million available. The American guy in charge there has proved a great owner for Martin O’Neill.”

Coincidentally (Or maybe not!) the Claret and blues have been linked to a transfer raid over Hadrian’s wall. Both the Mail and Express have reported that Villa are poised to make a 10million January move for Celtic winger Aiden McGeady.

The Glasgow born Irish international who has previously been linked with a move to the red side of Manchester, is highly rated. McGeady has already won five induvidual awards this year, including the SPFA Players Player of the Year.
