Berbatov could be back for the derby

Manchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov is back in training after missing the last 2 games with a hamstring injury picked up playing for his country. It is uncertain how manager Alex Ferguson plans to use the £30.75 million signing on Sunday in the Manchester Derby or whether the game will come just a little too soon.

Ferguson, who will assess his fitness over the next 72 hours, said: “Dimitar started training on Thursday but hamstring injuries are never easy to deal with. We have to be careful because he has never had one before.”

He added: “We will have to gauge whether it is wise to use him from the start on Sunday or better to have him on the bench.

“It really depends how he comes through the next couple of days.”

Ferguson also confirmed veteran duo Gary Neville and Paul Scholes were back in training.
