Carlitos proves doubters wrong
December 4, 2008
After becoming more of a bench-warmer of late, Argentine forward Carlos Tevez has proved all doubter, and even manager Sir Alex Ferguson, wrong after his spectacular performance against Blackburn in the Carling Cup. Ferguson has been preferring the Rooney-Berbatov partnership for his starting line-up in the league, and this match was the opportunity for Tevez to show his goalscoring abilities.

Having only scored once in the league, against Liverpool in a 2-1 loss, not the same can be said for the Carling Cup. In total, Carlos has scored 5 goals, including the quadruple scored at Old Trafford against the Rovers in midweek. One of his goals was a penalty scored in the 50′, while his other goals came after 35′, 54′ and in the 4th minute of 2nd half injury time. With this 5-3 score, Man Utd go straight into the semi-final of the Carling Cup with a possible encounter against Tottenham, Derby or Burnley.
Tevez needed Rodrigo Possebon as interpreter in an interview to MUTV, showing that although being in the Premier League for 2 years, he has not yet fully learnt the English language:
“I’m very proud to score four goals. It’s the first time I’ve done it in my career and I’m very proud to have achieved this in a United shirt. We’re very happy as a team with our performance, and I’m happy with my performance as well.”
“For the players who do not play very often, it was a very good night because we showed we can play in any game that’s to come in the Premier League or Champions League.” - Carlos Tevez through Possebon
