City Chasing Viera

Roberto Mancini is poised to bring former Arsenal skipper Patrick Vieira back to the Premier League as advanced talks with Inter Milan continue, reports the Times.

In the last 48 hours, the Manchester City manager has been trying to work out a deal with Inter Milan that would bring 33-year-old Vieira to Eastlands on loan for the remainder for the season, with, it’s thought, the possibility of a permanent contract should the arrangement work out for both parties.

The two are on familiar terms as Vieira featured in Mancini’s Serie A title-winning sides in 2006-07 and 2007-08.

If talks are successful, Vieira could be seen in a City vest as early as Monday when the Citizens take on Blackburn at Eastlands.

France international Vieira scored 29 times in 279 appearances for Arsenal between 1996-2005 and helped the club to 3 Premier League titles and 4 FA Cup titles.
