City rule out Ronaldo transfer
September 16, 2008
Manchester City have announced that they will not be persuing their interest in Brazilian forward Ronaldo, after recent claims that he was set to move to England.
The 31-year-old has been training with local team Flamengo as he continues his recovery from a serious knee surgery sustained at the beginning of the year.
Ronaldo had been strongly linked with City and looked posied to join up with compatriot Robinho at Eastlands.
“Me and him together, we can score more than 50 goals,” he said.
City have today confirmed that they will not be following up their interest in the former AC Milan, Inter Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid striker.
“We had shown a past interest in bringing the player to the football club in the right circumstances and spoke to him and his representatives,” a City spokesperson said. “However, we have chosen not to pursue the matter.”
