Darijo Srna Linked With Premiership Switch
July 1, 2009
After leading his Ukrainian club, Shaktar Donetsk, to victory in the UEFA Cup, Croatian Darijo Srna has gained the attention of top English clubs. Tottenham’s Vedran Čorluka gave an interview to a Croatian newspaper earlier this month and hinted that he would not surprised if Harry Redknapp made a move to sign the talented right-back. If they were to sign him, Vedran also explained that he, himself, would move into a center-back position alongside Woodgate and Srna would then take his place as right-back.
It has been reported that Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United all have the same interest in him. However, the Ukrainian champions don’t seem keen on selling their captain. They have offered Srna a raise to €5 million a year, instead of his regular €4 million, to stay at the club, as well as an extension of his contract.
They should know more about his intentions for the summer shortly.
