Essien Injured!

September 7, 2008

Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien was left limping off the field in the first half during the World Cup qualifier match with his international team Ghana.

The doctors have estimated that he will be out for up to 4 weeks, meaning he would miss out on the vital clashes against Manchester City and Manchester United.

Michael Essien has proved to be the backbone of the Chelsea midfield last season. And with no competition for the defensive midfielder role. Essien is highly favoured to now have first choice.

Chelsea play Manchester City next week, and Essien is defiantly not going to be able to play. But he does have great confidence in being able to recover ASAP.

Essien told Sky sports: “My injury? It is serious but I can be ready again soon.”

Once Essien arrives back in England, the Chelsea doctors will evaluate the damage for themselves and give an official estimate on how long the Ghana midfielder will be out for.
