The Tigers crashed to a fourth succesive defeat, this time at the hands of Everton, as David Moyes side continue their push up the league without a recognised striker. Phil Brown brought in Dean Marney, Geovanni and Marlon King from the side that was cruelly beaten by Aston Villa, with Garcia, Halmosi and Cousin dropping out. Michael Turner had the first chance for City, but his header was over from Dean Marneys corner.
Nick Barmby was recieveing stick from the home crowd, due to his move to Merseyside rivals Liverpool from Everton 8 years ago. Everton took the lead not long after, Felliani met the cross with a glancing header after losing Ashbee, and the ball nestled in the net beyond the outstreached Myhill, although later replays show he was offside as he met the cross. He soon had another chance to make it two, with his head, but he headed well wide on Myhills post. Michael Turner had another opportunity for city, but he dragged the ball wide of Howards goal. Everton doubled there lead in added time, Turners foul gave Arteta a chance from 30 yards with the free-kick, and he fired a bullet beyond Myhill and in to the Gwlayds Road end goal, for a possible goal of the season contender.
Felliani was then booked at the start of the second half for a foul on Turner, which meant he misses out on both Merseyside derbies as it was his 10th booking of the season. Fagan then replaced Myhill, and Zayatee was booked for a foul on Cahill. Sam Ricketts followed him into the book for a foul on Cahill, before tigers boss Brown threw on Cousin in replace of Geovanni, who had had a very quiet afternoon, Cousin then found his way into the book, for a foul on Jagielka, before Mcshance was replaced by hungarian Halmosi.
City’s only chance of the second half was a rare corner, but Turner fouled his marker, as he attempted to meet kings ball. Fagan then added himself to the growing yellow card list in the second half, for a foul on Felliani. As the final whistle blew on another week without any points, the Tigers attentions turned to the midweek FA Cup replay with Newcastle, but citys home form is cause for concern, as there last points was a point across Stanley Park, as they surrendered a two goal lead at the hands of league leaders Liverpool.
