Gallas out for the season

Former Arsenal captain William Gallas is set to miss the rest of the season after picking up a medial knee ligament injury during the quarter final Champions League match against Villarreal on Tuesday night.

Gallas is just one of many injuries that Arsenal have at the moment, they had just got most of their team back to full fitness but now Gallas is out, Clichy will be missing for 2 weeks, Almunia for 3 and both Eduardo and van Persie are to undergo fitness tests on Friday to see if they will be fit for Saturdays match at Wigan.

Wenger is likely to use Swiss defender Johan Djourou as Gallas’s replacement but with a whole host of tough games coming up including Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley on April 18 Wenger would have preferred to have his experienced centre back fit.
