Arsenal have announced the appointment of MLS deputy commissioner Ivan Gazidis as their new chief executive. The 44 year old takes over from David Dein who left the Emirates in 2007 after falling out with the board over a possible takeover. The South Africa – born Oxford graduate Gazidis is likely to handle issues such as player contracts and transfer negotiations and is keen to begin his new job which officially starts in January.
