Luka Modric Set For Tottenham Return
December 1, 2009
August 29th seems so long ago since Spurs midfielder Luka Modrić sustained a fractured fibula in their match with Birmingham. After speculation of only missing 6 weeks, he’s going on four months but making progress in recovering. Still, they can’t put a time on when he will return and be match fit again, but hopefully it’s not too much longer. Harry Redknapp said on Friday morning, “Luka’s coming on slowly, it’s been a long job for him. He’s gradually getting there but is still a way away at the moment. But we’re seeing some light at the end of the tunnel with him and he worked with the Academy this morning (Friday) for the first time.”
He continued, “Tim Sherwood was down there with him and he said he came through the session fine, so we’re staring to get there with Luka.” Again on Monday, Modrić trained with the Academy and Redknapp reported on that session as well. He said, “He played an eight-a-side game, I watched some of it and he looked to be moving much, much better, so hopefully he’s on his way back, but want to make sure he’s right.”
Spurs have been missing his creativity in the midfield and remain hopeful for a speedy recovery as they are looking to secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League for next season.
