Modric Close to Tottenham Return

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is hopeful for Luka Modrić to return after the international break. After sustaining a fractured fibula, Modrić is in his fifth week of the predicted six it would take to heal and could be ready for action on the 17th of October when Spurs will travel to Fratton Park. He is making great progress says Redknapp and is more than ready to come be back in the squad. He is a true talent that Spurs greatly missed on the pitch against both Manchester United and Chelsea in the past few weeks. Also, the Croatia national team lacked his creativity when they played England at Wembley last month. He will also miss out on the friendly with Qatar on the 8th and versus Kazakhstan on the 14th in their last bid for the World Cup 2010.

Upon the great news of his return, Redknapp told the papers, “He’s coming along okay, it’s a matter of waiting for the bone to heal now. We’ll see how it goes. We have a break of two weeks coming up after the Bolton game so that could be enough to get him back playing after that international break.”

However, things haven’t been looking so rosy for Jonathan Woodgate the past month. He has missed the start of the season with a groin injury that is not letting up. Spurs medics are doing everything they can to avoid another operation for the defender, in hopes that he will be fit to play soon. Harry remarked on this subject, “He had an injection and feels a lot easier. We hope that does the trick rather than operating again.”

As Spurs continue crossing names off the injured list, the whole squad is nearly fit and they are getting back to winning ways in the new Premier League season.
