Modric Still Some Way From Spurs Return

October 26, 2009

After suffering a fractured fibula back in August during Spurs’ match with Birmingham, it was speculated that Modrić would be out for at least six weeks. Harry Redknapp was hopeful for him to return after the last International break when Spurs played Pompey; however, he wasn’t fully recovered and is still yet to be. The pain is not completely gone from his leg, but he seems to be making good progress in recovering.

When Harry reported on the injury he said, “He is still quite a way away. The leg is very tender, and he is hesitant on his leg still. So he is still a long way away really. I was hopeful he’d be close after the International break but he hasn’t recovered really. He’s not happy with it at the moment. I would like to put a time on it. We started him trying to jog last Friday but he’s very tender with it.”

Going on nine weeks of being sidelined, his absence is a blow to Spurs, but hopefully he will be back in the squad soon.
