Mowbray think West Brom will come back up

April 14, 2009

West Brom manager Tony Mowbray seems to have admitted defeat in his fight to stay in the Premiership by announcing he believes the club will make a swift return to the top flight if they go down.

West Brom currently sit 7 points from safety with only 6 games left, it is not impossible that they can survive as there are a lot of clubs within touching distance but it is an uphill struggle.

“If we go down we will be strong next year. If we keep people like (Jonathan) Greening, (Robert) Koren, (James) Morrison, (Marc-Antoine) Fortune and (Jonas) Olsson, I believe we would be strong in the Championship,” said Mowbray.

“Hopefully we could come back with a good crop of players who have been through this experience this year and know what it takes.

“Also hopefully I would be a coach, who understands the league better, understands the quality of the opposition and knows what it takes to win games.”

He said: “The disappointment is, that if we drop out of this league, we are going to lose a little bit of the progress we’ve made.

“I feel if we could stay in this league, it would be so much better next year because we would be able to add one or two quality players and go to places and let teams know they’re in a real match.”
