Everton manager David Moyes has signed a new five-year deal, ending speculation about his future at the Merseyside club.
The 45 year old manager had previously delayed on signing a new contract but today put pen to paper in a deal that will see him remain at Everton for the next five years.
“There have been many different things for different reasons,” Moyes told the club’s website.
“But we are here now. The big thing for me is that I am at Everton, as far as I am concerned, for another five years.”
Moyes’ side are currently 15th in the Premier League after a poor start to the campaign but Moyes is determined to turn things around and finish in the UEFA Cup places come the end of the season.
The Everton chairman, Bill Kenwright, has also professed his happiness that Moyes has signed his new deal saying,
“There have always been two people – myself and David – confident that the long term future of the manager would eventually be secured.
“The signatures of those two people are now on a contract.
“I am obviously very pleased that the contract, that I’ve always believed to be the most important contract, is now concluded.”
Moyes has been at Goodison since March 2002, when he left Preston North End, and has three times obtained European qualification, something the club had not achieved since 1996. He has also won the Manager of the Year award twice since he took over as manager.
