New Deal offer for Owen

Newcastle have offered Michael Owen a new contract to try and keep him at Newcastle for at least another 3 years.

There had been reports that Newcastle were only offering him a one year extension and on lower terms however the new contract is reported to be worth in the region of £103,000 a week.

“Newcastle United can confirm that captain Michael Owen has been offered an extended and improved three-year contract.

“The proposed terms of the new deal include an increased salary for Michael and demonstrate the club’s commitment to keeping him.

“The club hopes that this enhanced contract offer will keep him at St James’ Park.”
