Newcastle close to takeover

Newcastle look close to getting a new owner as it emerged that there re two “very serious” parties interested in buying the club.

There were seven parties initially interested but that has been whittled down to just the two now but the club is refusing to say who the parties are. Mike Ashley is reportedly after £250 million for the club.

Keith Harris, chairman of investment bank Seymour Pierce said “We have two very serious contenders to buy it.”

“We have had Nigerians that don’t exist, and South Africans told by the media they were bidding.

“The truth of the matter is that the phone has rung several times, frequently because I have made the calls – but they have reacted to them.

“It is not easy doing anything in this world whether it’s selling a football club or anything else, but it will come through.”
