Portsmouth sign £6m Kaboul

Portsmouth have confirmed the signing of Tottenham Hotspur defender Younes Kaboul in a £6million transfer.
Pompey boss Harry Redknapp defeated competition from both Aston Vill and Sunderland to sign the 22-year-old central defender.
The France Under-21 player only signed for Spurs last summer but found first-team chances limited after former boss Martin Jol was replaced by Juande Ramos.
Kaboul is tipped to be a replacement for Sol Campbell, who gave a disappointing performance in Sunday’s Community Shield match against Manchester United.
Kaboul is Redknapp’s second big money signing of the summer after England striker Peter Crouch joined from Liverpool for £11m.
Despite being strongly liked with both Sunderland and Villa, Kaboul claims his first choice destination was always Fratton Park.
“It wasn’t a difficult choice to make coming here. Everyone in the papers was saying I was going to Sunderland or Aston Villa but I only ever wanted to come here,” he told www.portsmouthfc.com.
“As soon as I knew they were interested I said: ‘I want to come to Pompey.’
“I came here because the manager has wanted me for two years. I met him two years ago when I was at Auxerre and I like the man because he gives you confidence.”
