Reds fear Torres sale

The departure of manager Rafa Benitez could lead to the sale of star striker Fernando Torres it has been rumoured.

Speculation has mounted over recent weeks over the future of the Spanish coach, as Liverpool have yet to offer him a new deal.

Chelsea and Manchester City have showed keen interest in Torres should there be any hint of the player wanting to leave Anfield.

Liverpool have admitted to cashflow problems and have had to put their plans for a new stadium on hold as a result of the global credit crunch.

With debts of £250 million and annual interest payments of £20 million, Torres may be sold to help balance the books.

Italian side Juventus, who are fast losing patience with Claudio Ranieri, are keen admirers of Benitez.
