Santa Cruz – ‘I signed a new deal’

Roque Santa Cruz had been the subject of great interest from other clubs this summer after an impressive debut season in the Barclays Premier League.
But Santa Cruz last week signed a new four-year contract to demonstrate his pledge and commitment to Blackburn and revealed he felt the need to demonstrate his loyalty to the club after they signed him from Bayern Munich a year ago despite him being injured.
Santa Cruz said: “People sometimes say when you are in a good position; you need to go to a better team.
“But I have something to pay back to the club. When the club has done something good for you, you have to be aware of it and do something good for the club.
“They offered me the chance to become a better player. That’s why I came here in the first place, and that’s also the reason why I signed a new deal.”
