Tosic is a Man Utd player
December 2, 2008
This is what several sources from Serbia are saying, and it seems that the deal will actually happen and be announced soon. With an article appearing earlier on ManUtd.com, the official website of the club, it was reported that Tosic has successfully earnt a work permit. I see no other reason, apart from the above, why this news would have appeared on the official website. It was clear that United were in pursuit of the long-term successor to Ryan Giggs. Now, the player himself has come out speaking about his strong desire to play for the club and revealing that it is a ‘great honour’.

Ferguson has said on Tuesday that there will be no January signings for Manchester United. The manager is no big fan of buying players in mid-season. This leads us to believe that the player will actually stay on loan at Partizan until summer 2009, when he will complete the move to Man Utd, thought to cost in the region of £3 million. ‘Bambi’, as he is nicknamed, is looking forward to being in the same line-up as Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo and revealed that Ronaldo is his favourite player, and United his favourite childhood club.
“My agent told me about the work permit, that I got it, but that’s all I know at the moment. My agent also told me to stay focused on Partizan and playing as best as I can until end of the first part of the season. But it is great honour everything that is going on. I still can’t believe it. I’m still in dream land. From the moment I first kicked the ball I dreamed of playing for Manchester United. And my dreams are going to happen in real life.”
“When I played video games with my friends, I was always Cristiano Ronaldo,” he added, before trying to bring himself back down to earth. But I must stay on the floor with both legs. Partizan is still the most important.” - Zoran Tosic
Tosic has scored 14 goals in 46 appearances (as at 02 Dec 2008), and played 12 times for home nation Serbia. Sir Alex is also interested in Serbian starlet Adem Ljajlic, 17 years old, who enjoyed a successful trial with Man Utd in October. Man Utd are waiting for the youngster to earn a call-up to the Serbian squad, which would make it easier to get a work permit. Ljajlic and Tosic will join Nemanja Vidic in the Man Utd setup, and the fantastic defender will obviously be of great help to the duo to integrate into the squad and overcome the culture change and language barrier.
