Van Persie set for Arsenal return
October 15, 2008
Robin van Persie looks ready to return for the Gunners after declaring himself fit to play in Holland’s World Cup qualifier against Norway on Wednesday.
van Persie has struggled with injury problems in the past—notably last season, where he missed a large portion after picking up an injury on international duty— but is vowing to be responsible and not risk his long-term health with a pre-emptive return.
“When I was injured before at Arsenal I made the error of coming back to training too quickly…I am not making the same mistake twice. I feel very good and in the last few days I have done some tough training sessions and all the tests have been positive.”
The return of “RVP” will surely be welcomed by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who’s Arsenal squad is missing several first team members including Tomas Rosicky, Eduardo, and recently captain William Gallas, who picked up a knock during training for France’s world cup qualifier before the weekend’s match.
Gunner football returns on Saturday with a game against Everton.
