Young-ho
November 4, 2008
Aston Villa have announced this afternoon that their wing wizard Ashley Young has put pen to paper on a new contract.
The player who has been tipped by many for an England call-up, has signed a brand new deal with the Villans tying him to the club until 2012.
The ex-Watford attacker has already won the Barclays player of the month award twice this year, in April and October. He joined an elite band of player who have won the award more than once including Steve Gerrard, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.
There has been talk since the summer that Martin O’Neill wanted to give Young a new deal since the summer, but both parties had insisted that there was no rush.
The 23-year-old had joined Villa from Watford in January 2007 for roughly £9.75m after just over 4 months in the Premier league.
He follows John Carew, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Wilfred Bouma and Craig Gardner, who have all signed new long-term deals at Villa since the end of last season
