Scottish Cup Preview

The fourth round of the Homecoming Scottish Cup gets underway this weekend with Scotland’s top sides entering the competition for the first time this season. Holders Rangers will have to wait until Tuesday to begin the defence of their title when they travel to McDiarmid Park to face Scottish Division One side St.Johnstone. Undoubtedly, the tie of the round, sees Hibernian take on Edinburgh rivals Hearts at Easter Road on Sunday, with both sides eager to progress to the fifth round.

SPL leaders, Celtic, face Jocky Scott’s Dundee side at Parkhead and there is the small matter of an Ayrshire derby at Somerset Park where hosts Ayr United will battle it out with rivals Kilmarnock. Last season’s shock troops, Queen of the South, will have to overcome Falkirk away from home if they are to experience a repeat of their heroics in the 2007/2008 campaign.

Motherwell’s tie at Inverurie has sadly fallen foul of the weather and has beeen rearranged for Wednesday, 21st January, with a 7.45pm K.O.
