Barcelona sporting director Txiki Begiristain has refused to rule out any more new signings at the club before the end of the transfer window.
After losing stars including Ronaldinho and Deco this summer, Barca have been busy rebuilding and have snapped up Dani Alves, Seydou Keita, Gerard Pique, Martin Caceres and Alexander Hleb, but this may not be the end of their summer signings.
Although admitting they were “happy” with the current pool of players, Begiristain said: “The market closes on August 31 and you can never say that the squad is closed.”
“If we find ourselves with an opportunity, we will take advantage of it, although any movement will be done in agreement with the coach (Pep Guardiola),” he added.
“It is something that we will talk about and study with calm. If nobody comes then the lads from the youth team will have their chance to get into the first team, which is also good.”
After missing out on Valencia winger David Silva this week, Barcelona are now being linked with Andrei Arshavin, Diego Capel and Rodrigo Palacio to fill the gap on the left wing.
Palacio’s current club Boca Juniors were in Barcelona this weekend as they were playing Guardiola’s men in the Joan Gamper Trophy, but Begiristain played down any suggestion that talks had taken place about the forward.
“There has not been any contact with Boca for Palacio,” he said.
