Johnson signs for Liverpool

Liverpool have made their first signing of the summer with the capture of Portsmouth right-back Glen Johnson.

Chelsea and Liverpool were both interested in the England international who impressed with consistent performances last season but it is believed the players preference was Liverpool after already having an unsuccessful time at Chelsea before his move to Portsmouth.

“Liverpool FC confirmed this evening that they had reached an agreement with Portsmouth Football Club and with Glen Johnson for the transfer of the player to Anfield.”

The transfer fee is rumoured to be around £17 million.
