Spurs Wrap Up Kranjcar Transfer

September 1, 2009

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Croatian playmaker, Niko Kranjcar from Portsmouth, with the Croat perhaps being seen as an immediate replacement for his fellow countryman, Luka Modric, who suffered a leg break at the weekend.

The player underwent a successful medical at White Hart Lane earlier today, before leaving to join up with his national side ahead of the forthcoming World Cup Qualifying games against Belarus and England.

Kranjcar made over 100 appearances in a Portsmouth jersey, with the south coast club keen to cash in on the midfielder whose contract terminated next summer.

A statement made on Tottenham Hotspur’s official website read:

We are delighted to announce that we have reached an agreement with Portsmouth for the transfer of Niko   Kranjcar to the club, following the player successfully completing a medical examination and agreeing personal terms.”
