Upson Interests Fiorentina

West Ham United defender, Matthew Upson, is reportedly attracting attention from Italian Serie A club, Fiorentina, with the Viola keen to strengthen their squad for both their domestic and European campaign.

It is believed that an offer has been made for the England international stopper but the East London club have, as yet, to confirm whether or not this is the case.

Hammers’ boss, Gianfranco Zola, has previously indicated that he would be happy for Upson to remain at Upton Park, and it remains to be seen whether or not Fiorentina will follow through with their reported offer, which would provide the defender with the opportunity to compete at UEFA Champions League level.

Upson, who joined West Ham from Birmingham City for an initial fee of £6million in 2007, has made over 70 appearances in the claret and blue jersey, and has been capped 15 times for the English national side, scoring in the 2008 friendly against Germany.
