Ferdinand could play against Inter

Rio Ferdinand looked set to miss the Champions league clash with Inter Milan after limping off in the game against Fulham on Saturday but the Manchester United defender could make a return in time for the game.

Manchester United host Inter Milan in the second leg of the last 16 match in the Champions League with the game still on a knife edge after a goalless draw in the first leg.

Ferdinand took part in training on Tuesday and, provided he suffers no adverse reaction, Ferdinand is set to partner Nemanja Vidic as United look to reach the last eight of Europe’s premier club competition and so keep alive their bid to win five major trophies in the one season.

Long-term absentees Gary Neville and Wes Brown remain unavailable as does Rafael da Silva but otherwise Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson can pick from a full squad
