Ronaldinho lights up UEFA contest
November 7, 2008
The Portuguese Braga almost settle for a point from their opponentĀ Milan at San Siro this Thursday, but Brazilian Ronaldinho helped Milan snap a last-gasp victory at the end of injury time to top UEFA Cup Group E on six points.
Milan could have perfect start within four minutes when Filippo Inzaghi headed towards goal crossed by Janku from the left hand side, but the ball went just wide. Shevchenko and Pato also attempt to goal for Rossoneri in the early exchanges. However, the best performance in the first half attributed to Dida, who made a wonderful save following a shot by Peixoto from close range. The second half was so boring expect renteria threatened several times on Milan’s side. However, Italian leader only needed one superstar this night, Ronaldinho, who came off the bench in the 63rd minute, served a stunning shot at the edge of the penalty area assisted by Rino Gattuso, and then ended the match.
On Sunday, Ronaldinho scored a late winner when Milan beat Napoli 1-0 to go back to top of Serie A after three years, and last night, he duplicated that performance. The Nou Camp King has been back in San Siro! Shevchenko without goals had to be criticised by fans as usual, but to be honest, he did better in this game. It seems Senderos hasn’t found the pace of the match after long-term injury, who made his debut finally. However, the situation of Nesta is uncertain, he would have to take more responsibility in the rest of matches. After three months, at least Milan has not lost in summer market.
